The family of a holocaust survivor has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against a hospital for using restraints on an elderly man who was a holocaust survivor. The man was hospitalized for pneumonia. The hospital staff bound his hands after he pulled a tube out of his nose. The family alleges that the hospital should have been sensitive to the elderly man’s experiences as a holocaust survivor and that binding of his hands induced panic and terror. The man died of heart failure.
