Elder Law Abuse: Special Needs of Dementia Patients Should Be Incorporated In Outpatient Settings

On January 11, 2012, Medscape reports on a JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) study that finds that people with dementia have a significantly higher rate of hospitalizations than those without dementia.  Hospitalizations have adverse consequences to dementia patients such as worsening of cognition, delirium and functional declines.  The article suggests that a model should be developed to improve outpatient care for dementia patients.
